Bio
Jesse Treviño is a journalist and writer who has been observing the social and political development of the Hispanic population within American society for more than four decades. Latino Journal in America provides periodic postings of thoughts and observations that could inform Hispanics and others about how current events, combined with the history of the Hispanic experience in the United States, are changing America and shaping the ultimate impact of Latinos on society. The Journal is also an attempt to quiet those who have been ragging on Jesse for years to write a book on the very subject.
Jesse formerly served as editorial page editor and columnist for The Austin American Statesman in Texas; a program producer for KERA, the PBS television station in Dallas; senior speechwriter for Federico Peña and Bill Richardson when each man served as Secretary of Energy and for the President’s special envoy to the Americas in the Clinton Administration. Most recently, he organized the successful book proposal for Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, formerly the senior commander of coalition forces in Iraq. Jesse has lived in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, every major city in Texas and Washington, D.C.
